I drove south yesterday through epic winds and snow all the way across Montana and Wyoming.
The stretch of highway 20 was truly treacherous, with zero visibility and completely unplowed roads. It was so bad I actually got my car stuck. But it wasn’t my fault. There were literally hundreds of swans floating on the river by Island Park. I barelled into a turnout like Mr. Cool – excuse me Dr. Cool – to snap some photos.
I can tell you this: it’s amazing how far a car will travel into drifted snow at 55 mph! And the landing is very soft too.
Fortunately, a friendly Idahoan with a tow rope drug me out.
The Tetons have tons of snow. Park City is dry and relatively tourist free.
